Who would’ve thunk. Nationwide, about 50,000 people participate in the sport of adventure racing, at least that’s according to Troy Farrar, president of the United States Adventure Racing Association. And this year alone Mr. Farrar’s organization will sanction 300 races around the country, though Primal Quest is not among them.
I’m one of the whackos for sure. Just didn’t think there were 49,999 other AR aficionados out there in this fine land.
In my story for New York Times today I wrote about this season’s upcoming ARs, which include multiday races in Michigan, sprints in Wisconsin, and daylong (read: 24 hours straight) duals in the deepest Appalachia.
